Entering it's second year, the Funding in Disputes Circle is an exclusive, invitation only event. This Circle is expertly steered by our Advisory Board Ayse Yazir of Bench Walk Advisors, Elena Rey of Brown Rudnick, Christiane Deniger of Burford Capital, Zachary Sananes of Stewarts and Gian Kull of Omni Bridgeway. This Circle brings together senior-level lawyers, litigation funders, and other intermediaries working in commercial and competition disputes.
This exclusive invitation only event, involves facilitated discussions across one and a half days of content, led by our esteemed Advisory Board consisting of Ayse Yazir of Bench Walk Advisors, Elena Rey of Brown Rudnick, Christiane Deniger of Burford Capital, Zachary Sananes of Stewarts and Gian Kull of Omni Bridgeway.
This year’s Circle will bring together a more focused and complementary blend of up to 40 senior practitioners, including litigation funders, lawyers (spanning expertise in Competition, Securities, Insolvency & Asset Recovery, Arbitration, and general Commercial Disputes), brokers, insurers, and any other intermediaries relevant to the litigation funding market.
With the Chatham House rule enforced, this Circle provides a platform for the exchange of ideas, insights, and deliberation upon the most pressing issues in the industry today based on those attending the Circle. This year’s format is currently being curated by our Advisory Board to include new elements such as sector specific roundtables, and an address from an industry leader followed by Q&A, all with the intention of delving deeper into the ideas presented, exploring different perspectives, and considering practical applications.
We are thrilled to share that we will have The Rt Hon Alex Chalk KC (former Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice) joining us for the Friday discussions. His recent article in The Times here outlines his support for the litigation funding industry, his thoughts on PACCAR, and this is a great opportunity for everyone to have the opportunity to speak privately, under the Chatham house rule with someone having been ‘on the inside’. We will also have the fantastic Professor Rachael Mulheron KC, and PJ Kirby KC also leading the discussions. With Rachael’s involvement in the DBA regulations in both 2013, and 2019, along with PJ’s expertise as one of the respondents for PACCAR, this should be a truly engaging discussion amongst the whole group.
The Circle this year will take place at The Royal Berkshire Hotel, Ascot, UK.
