Over the last few months, they announced market studies into GenAI to understand how GenAI works. For the first time, stakeholders and competition authorities are building knowledge simultaneously due to rapid market and regulatory developments. This panel will provide some insights into the functioning of GenAI and the potential competition concerns.

Christophe is a renowned and passionate expert on digital and competition issues with a strong reputation for doing impartial, high-quality research. After his PhD in law and economics on Big Data and Competition Law, he is an ex-affiliate fellow at the economic think-tank Bruegel and a lecturer in competition law and economics at Lille University. In January 2024, he started his own research and advisory firm, Digital Competition (https://www.digital-competition.com).

Katie is a Partner based in RBB’s London office. She has twenty years’ experience working as a competition economist across a broad range of matters including mergers, litigation, Competition Act investigations and market studies. A former Economics Director at
Ofcom, she has significant regulatory expertise and a deep understanding of telecoms and digital markets.
An experienced testifying expert, Katie has given evidence in various courts including the UK’s Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT). Previously the Head of Econometrics at the Office of Fair Trading (a predecessor of the UK Competition and Markets Authority), Katie has significant expertise in the application of quantitative techniques to competition policy questions.
