Henrique Forssell is one of the founding partners of DFA, with extensive experience advising judicial administrators, foreign liquidators and financial institutions in the identification of bankruptcy and bank fraud of national repercussion. In the past ten years, he has been appointed by several judicial authorities to lead and coordinate some of the most important international asset recovery processes in Brazil. Since 2011, he has been a member of FraudNet, an organization established by the International Chamber of Commerce (International Chamber of Commerce), which selects highly qualified lawyers experienced in asset recovery in each country. He was appointed as a reference lawyer in Brazil in the area of ​​recovery of fraudulent assets by the English magazine Who's Who Legal.

Tatiana Markel focuses her practice on bankruptcy-related litigation, with an emphasis on cross-border investigations to trace and recover misappropriated assets.

Since joining BakerHostetler in 2009, Tatiana has played a key role in the representation of Trustee Irving H. Picard for the SIPA liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC. She has worked to unravel the global maze of interconnected parties, including financial institutions, by litigating complex legal issues, implementing unique legal theories and using international discovery methods to recover assets for the Fund of Customer Property. Her team’s efforts have led to the recovery of more than $12 billion in assets from Madoff’s decades-old Ponzi scheme – the largest financial crime in U.S. history.

Tatiana regularly speaks on topics related to international asset recovery. She has presented at the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC), discussing asset identification and recovery in international insolvencies. Tatiana also has a strong interest in technology and cybercrime, specifically how assets can be hidden using digital platforms, and how laws are applied to evolving technology.

Jen Cherner is a Partner at the Mintz Group’s Washington, DC office, focusing on complex corporate litigation and asset tracing.  Recently, she has worked on the enforcement of several multi-billion dollar arbitral awards in jurisdictions ranging from Western Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean.

Her investigations have covered a wide range of industries — from finance to manufacturing, health services to real estate —throughout the world. Recent litigation support and due diligence cases have included work in Japan, China, the Caribbean, several countries in Latin America and the United Kingdom.  Jen’s cases have included investigating a racketeering conspiracy targeting a high net-worth individual and an internal investigation into alleged contract fraud at a financial services company.

Prior to joining The Mintz Group, she worked for five and a half years as a reporter at The Miami Herald. At The Herald, she was the prime police and crime reporter in Miami-Dade County, covering more than a dozen agencies and exposing misspending in a $5 million police environmental trust fund.
