Alan Binnington

Based in Jersey, Alan is part of the Specialist Team in the Fiduciary Services Division.

Alan has responsibility for a portfolio of UHNW and HNW clients, managing their affairs through a broad range of fiduciary structures: from trusts, companies and foundations, through to Private Trust Companies.

Alan is part of the team that have responsibility for identifying and developing new business opportunities for the Fiduciary Services Division and his role also includes the provision of technical and specialist trust support to his non-fiduciary colleagues, whose clients have a need to use fiduciary structures for robust estate and succession planning benefits, as part of their broader wealth management initiative.

Before joining RBC in 2009 Alan was a Partner in the Jersey law firm Mourant du Feu & Jeune for 25 years, specialising in commercial litigation and the formation and administration of structures for high net worth families.

Having studied law at St. Catharine’s College Cambridge, he qualified as an English barrister, Jersey Advocate and subsequently a Crown Advocate. Part of his role involves advising on the resolution of contentious matters and challenges to trust structures. Alan is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, an Academician of the International Academy of Estate and Trust Law and is a member of the Editorial Board of the Jersey and Guernsey Law Review.

Richard’s career began as a trust administrator. After obtaining his Certificate in Offshore Administration, Richard read Marketing, Business and later Law at university before venturing into legal practice in 2004.

Richard had a varied commercial, trust, corporate and litigation practice at the Jersey Bar before returning to industry in 2012. Richard has worked as a Fiduciary Specialist and Deputy Head of Fiduciary before becoming the Global Head of Legal and Structuring for ZEDRA in 2016. Since 2019, Richard has focussed on developing the commercial interests of ZEDRA and its clients as the Global Head of Structuring.

Richard enjoys identifying and implementing optimal solutions for ZEDRA’s clients and works closely with a number of intermediaries and clients in this space.

Josh Lewison specialises in private client and insolvency litigation.

He has extensive court experience, onshore and offshore, including High Court trial experience and appeals at all levels up to the Court of Appeal. In addition, he is experienced in non-contentious private client matters, particularly trusts and tax. Josh is recognised as a leading junior by both Chambers UK Bar and The Legal 500 UK Bar. He is also admitted to the state bar of California.
