Under the Spotlight: Managing Communications Considerations In Employment Claims

Highlights

Employment disputes can be complex and sensitive, creating significant internal and external communications challenges. If they attract media attention, the challenges escalate. Whether it's a high-profile dismissal, allegations of misconduct, or claims of toxic workplace culture, how an organisation handles these pressures and any resulting media scrutiny can shape recruitment, staff retention, and public perceptions long before any legal resolution.

Employers must navigate the fine balance between legal risk, reputational management, and the need for transparency—often under intense public and regulatory scrutiny. Employees pursuing claims may find themselves inadvertently caught in an overwhelming media storm, or deliberately decide to threaten or create one.

In this interactive discussion, Kate Miller and Claire Davidson, Partners at DRD Partnership, will discuss the role of strategic communications when handling employment claims and how organisations can protect their reputations while ensuring a fair process. From handling internal communications, to managing leaks, media enquiries and online speculation, this session will provide practical insights into preparing for and responding to high-stakes employment cases.
