Highlights
As Sir Bernard Rix has recently written, the freezing injunction has “grown into a significant weapon in the law of civil fraud”, one which “provides substance to the pursuit of litigation”.
Join us to hear first-hand how this crucial mechanism was conceived, and what role it plays in the contemporary landscape of commercial disputes, which has been transformed almost beyond recognition in the five decades since Mareva was decided.
First, join Andrew Ayres KC in conversation with Sir Bernard, counsel who secured the first ‘Mareva injunction’ in the case of the same name, 50 years ago.
Then, Andrew Barns-Graham and Karen Petch each pinpoint some important aspects of the world of freezing injunctions as they have evolved up to the present day, and how they might continue to change into the future. Highlights include observations drawn from the recent ‘Mareva at 50’ series of articles published by Andrew and Andrew, with foreword by Sir Bernard.
